Hanna Hahn de Winter / Uruguay 2021
She was born on January 11, 1922 in Naklo, a small town on the Polish-German border. Years later he moved to Berlin with his family. Already in the 1930s, when the Concentration Camps were still in their infancy, his father Curt Hahn was deported to Buchenwald in 1938. Curt was later liberated. His stay in Buchenwald, although relatively brief, seemed interminable to him and left him with after-effects.
Hanna was just shy of her 17th birthday when she experienced the traumatic Kristallnacht in Berlin. Part of the family that remained in Europe was murdered during the Holocaust. In Bolivia Hanna met Rabbi Fritz Winter (Z "L) -also a survivor of the Night of the Broken Glass- whom she married, remaining in Cochabamba, Bolivia, until 1950. That same year they arrived in Uruguay, the Switzerland of America at that time.
Hanna (Z "L) of blessed memory passed away in January 2021. She had three children, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Somehow, for her too, "Remember and do not forget" has been a mitzvah (commandment) and the memory of those tragic years always accompanied her.

Nació el 11 de enero de 1922 en Naklo, un pequeño pueblito de la frontera polaco-alemana. Años más tarde se fue a vivir a Berlín junto con su familia. Ya en la década de 1930, cuando los Campos de Concentración aún eran incipientes, su papá Curt Hahn fue deportado a Buchenwald en 1938. Curt fue liberado posteriormente. Su permanencia en Buchenwald, aunque relativamente breve, le pareció interminable y le dejó secuelas.
Le faltaba poco a Hanna para cumplir 17, cuando le tocó vivir en Berlín la Noche de los Cristales Rotos, experiencia traumática. Parte de la familia que quedó en Europa fue asesinada durante el Holocausto. En Bolivia Hanna conoció al rabino Fritz Winter (Z"L) -también sobreviviente de la Noche de los Cristales Rotos- con quien se casó, permaneciendo en Cochabamba, Bolivia, hasta el año 1950. Ese mismo año llegan al Uruguay, la Suiza de América por aquel entonces.
Hanna (Z”L) de bendita memoria falleció en enero de 2021. Tenía tres hijos, tres nietos y ocho bisnietos.
